HIGH TOWN DENTAL PRACTICE

Located in the beautiful market town of Bridgnorth, in Shropshire, the practice has been established since 1993 and has continued to grow from strength to strength. We provide both NHS and private dental care, and also work with Denplan to offer monthly payment plans.

We pride ourselves on our ethos in promoting the prevention of dental disease, and our dentists, hygienists and nurses all actively engage in updating their knowledge and skills in order to deliver care in line with most recent guidance.

As well as helping to improve and maintain oral health, we also offer cosmetic treatments, including Invisalign clear braces, to help improve the appearance of your teeth and give you the confidence in your smile that you've always wanted.

Principal Dentist and Practice Owner

Dr Rachael Williams (BSc (Hons), MSc, BDS)

BDS University of Central Lancashire/Liverpool, 2011. GDC No. 209613

Dr Rachael Williams qualified in 2011 from The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan)/University of Liverpool, following a degree in Psychology (BSc Hons) and also a Masters in Biomedical Science (MSc). She has spent several years in general practice, as well as a placement within the Community Dental Services, treating Special Care patients and those with severe dental anxiety. Rachael worked at the practice from 2013 to 2016, before returning again in 2019 as both a dentist and also the practice owner.

Last year, Rachael completed a year-long Aesthetic Dentistry course in London, and has recently added Invisalign (clear braces) to the list of services offered at the practice. This year she is completing a Diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy in order to offer treatment for more complex Invisalign cases. Rachael really enjoys helping patients to transform their smile into one that they are proud to show off.

Rachael's favourite part of dentistry is treating children and anxious patients, and she prides herself on her empathetic and caring approach. Her background of working with children with severe learning disabilities has also given her a passion for Special Care dentistry.

In her spare time Rachael enjoys vintage car racing and (muddy) vintage car trialling. She is a dedicated gym fanatic - with a particular love for high intensity cardio - and is a Level 2 Fitness Instructor. Outside of this, she enjoys trekking up hills and mountains, most things adrenaline-fuelled, and also clay pigeon shooting when she can.

Associate Dentist

Dr Benjamin Mullard (BDS)

BDS University of Sheffield, 2012. GDC No. 228893

Dr Benjamin Mullard qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2012, joining the practice after completing his vocational training year in 2013. He has been working at the practice ever since and has built up a large list of patients, many of whom he considers to be friends also.

Ben is happiest in general practice and loves that dentistry brings him new, unique challenges every day. He takes great joy in treating nervous patients and trying to overcome their fears of dentistry. Ben finds it most rewarding to improve people’s smiles and self-confidence, along with getting them out of pain. Ben also prides himself on his minimally invasive approach to dentistry and enjoys working with white filling materials to help restore teeth and improve their cosmetic appearance without damaging their natural structure in the process. He also has a special interest in root canal treatment (endodontics), and takes in-house referrals for the more complex cases.

Outside of work Ben likes Mountain Biking, watching his beloved Shrewsbury Town FC, and following Formula 1. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Elise, whom he met through working at the practice, and spends most of his weekends taking their dog, Greg, out for long walks.

Hygienist

Helen Ibbs-George

CEB Cert in Dental Hygiene, 1988. GDC No. 3628

Helen qualified in 1988 as a Dental Hygienist from Manchester Dental Hospital and has since worked in a variety of general dental practices within the region.

She is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygienists and Therapists and regularly attends conferences and training events to ensure the highest standard of professional care is maintained.

Helen absolutely loves helping really nervous patients through their treatment, and seeing them leave relaxed and happy. Clinically, she finds it exciting to see a patient with poor gum health make the change to have a healthy mouth, once they have been given the advice and tools to improve their oral hygiene.

Outside working hours, Helen is a keen badminton player, going several times a week. At home she enjoys spending time with her family, and caring for an ever-increasing menagerie including dogs, chickens and three very wooly alpacas!

practice manager

Evie Hope

Level 4 Practice Manager’s Apprenticeship, 2023. Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Health (Dental Nursing), 2016. GDC No. 262770

It is our absolute pleasure to welcome Evie to the team as our Practice Manager. Evie joins us with over 10 years’ experience within dentistry, both in a managerial role, and also as a dental nurse.

Evie first started out as an Apprentice Dental Nurse in 2013, and found that it didn't take long for her to discover her unwavering passion for the profession, and patient care. She proudly earned her Dental Nurse qualification in 2016, and a few years later broadened her expertise by adding Dental Radiography to her skillset.

After many enjoyable years working as a Dental Nurse, Evie craved a fresh challenge. This led her on to a Leadership and Management course, and then a Dental Practice Manager Apprenticeship, which she successfully completed in July 2023. Evie takes immense fulfilment from the day-to-day running of a busy dental practice, striving to provide exceptional patient care; and also supporting fellow nurses and clinicians, motivating everyone with her positivity and enthusiasm.

Outside of work, Evie finds peace in long walks with her gorgeous dog, Elsa, and spending time with family - including supporting her brother when he performs (and hosts) open mic events. A fan also of adrenaline, Evie has enjoyed parasailing, high-speed zip wiring, and would love to book a skydive sometime soon!

Evie looks forward to welcoming all of our patients to the practice with a big smile, so when you see her, please do come and say hello!

Lead Dental Nurse

Elise Mullard

Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF City & Guilds, 2016. GDC No. 268513

Having joined the practice in 2014, and gained her Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF from City and Guilds in 2016, Elise has gone on to become our lead dental nurse.

She cites her favourite clinical part of the job as being root canal treatment, as she likes that the procedure alleviates patients' pain and also helps to save an otherwise unrestorable tooth. Elise also really enjoys the social aspects of the role and spending time talking to patients, reassuring those who may be a little nervous about going to the dentist.

Outside of work, Elise enjoys spending time with her husband Ben (our Associate dentist) and their Italian greyhound, Greg. She enjoys going for long walks in the country with them, going out for food with friends, and visiting the cinema. Elise is an experienced baker, formerly creating cakes for weddings and celebrations; however, most recently, Elise has turned her hand to creating bespoke outfits for Italian greyhounds, which are proving to be very popular!

Dental Nurse

Lisa Pond

National Diploma in Dental Nursing NEBDN, 2013. GDC No. 250593

Lisa, who is also affectionately known by her surname “Pond”, became an apprentice dental nurse at the practice in 2012 and has been employed here ever since. Lisa says that she loves the people who make up her team, and she’s finds that nursing never feels like work.

Her favourite part of the job is how a visit can help to change someone’s, maybe less favourable, perception of the dentist. Lisa finds it incredibly rewarding to make patients feel comfortable, and have them leave the practice feeling positive and relaxed, and happy to return again. She feels that it is a privilege to be a part of the patient journey.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Rich, and their two young daughters, Freya and Phoebe. She says that she can often be found being creative - making things and playing games, and is usually covered in glitter and glue! Lisa also prides herself on winning competitions and says that her favourite prize to date was a holiday to Milan.

Dental Nurse

Caroline Moore

Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF City & Guilds, 2021. GDC No. 295335

Caroline joined us as an Apprentice nurse in 2019, and qualified in 2021. She loves helping people, especially if they are in pain, or are anxious to come to the dentist, and has often imagined herself having a career as a dental nurse.

Caroline's favourite role in surgery is assisting with crown preparations and crown fitting, as she likes to see a tooth being restored; plus there are multiple stages to the appointment, and she likes to keep busy! She really enjoys patient interaction, especially meeting new patients, as well as seeing someone become confident with their smile.

Outside of work, Caroline enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks and rounds of Crazy Golf and relaxing at home. She has recently taken up crocheting and enjoys making amigurumi toys for her niece and selling them online! She is really keen to go and complete an Escape Room experience, as she loves problem-solving under time pressure, and trying out new things.

Head Receptionist

Janis Shakespeare

Most of our patients will know our Head Receptionist, Janis, very well, having been greeted and assisted by her for many years. Being friendly, efficient and professional, we are very proud to have her as our front of house.

Janis has an NVQ Level 3 Customer Service qualification and has over 35 years' experience in these types of roles (10 of which have been spent at the practice).

Janis considers her favourite part of the job here to be interaction with the patients, and putting them at ease, as she understands that visiting the practice isn't everyone's favourite place to be.

In her spare time, she enjoys cycling and spending time with family - Pat, Matt, Vicki, and Ross, and her grandchildren, Poppy and Jack. She also enjoys taking trips to the Lake District and other walking holidays. Janis enjoys anything classed as live entertainment - theatre, concerts, music (her favourite band is Queen); and she also has an adventurous side - counting ziplining next to Niagra Falls and white-water rafting in Canada as her holiday highlights.
